The BHWA believes that fun and safety should come first.
Winning is not the most important consideration.
BWHA players are asked to act in accordance with this belief.
Have a positive attitude on and off the ice during BWHA functions.
Demonstrate teamwork and sportsmanship.
Be generous with praise, not critical of your teammates.
Work to improve your skills and help your teammates improve their skills.
Learn the rules as defined by USA Hockey and play by them during practice, scrimmage, and games.
Be respectful of your coaches, teammates, opponents and the officials. Do not argue with an official’s decision during scrimmages and games.
Do not verbally or physically abuse a coach, player or official in front of them or behind their back.
During practice, if you are familiar with a drill, please move to the front of the line to help demonstrate it to other players. If you are unfamiliar with a drill, please move to the back of the line to watch before it is your turn. If you are still uncomfortable with the drill, please ask a coach.
Do your best to be on time for practices. If you arrive late, do not disrupt the flow of practice.
Arrive for games at least 15 minutes before start time. Be ready to take the ice on time for warm-up to prepare for the game and prevent injury.
Be courteous and thoughtful of your teammates’ ice time. Skate short, hard shifts.
Consumption of alcoholic beverages and illegal substances is discouraged prior to practices, scrimmages, and games due to safety considerations and impaired playing ability.
Please refrain from using the BWHA email distribution list for personal communication not related to hockey.
Failure to adhere to the BWHA Player’s Code of Conduct, can result in dismissal from the team.
